Description

This was prompted by Aled's(ajaysart) upload for today. This shot was taken through my kitchen window, the magpie had been having a splash in the bird bath that I have made. The magpies are the only birds that use it as its a little bit deep for the sparrows. Anyhow he had his/her splash and then hopped on to the fence to do some preening. I love these types of bird (are they classed as corvine??) I used to have a couple of tame crows who were absolutely super birds with great personalities!! I have an Indian Mynah now, it talks up a storm, shouting "Quiet, Quiet" at the dogs >LOL

This is a great one, it does look like she/he is just coming out of the shower ;)hopefully the sun is out today... I like the little green weed, it's a cool detail.

we have a pair that nest in the same tree every year out the back of me .i can see the nest from my kitchen window .they defend the nest to the death even against the crows and the gulls .they have reared 8 chicks at the last count and are starting to tidy up around the nest now ready for this year .excellent capture jeff :o) mick

Magpies are the best of the common birds around here. They are well built, sturdy and very capable. But seen like this, you gotta laugh at them. I wonder if he'd like a blow dryer for his birthday. :-)
