Description
Magnetic Dual Open Node Unifying Torus, or M-DONUT. Mmmmm... Donut... Heheh...
Anyhow it's some crazy idea that came to me when bored. Take a metal torus and put in in a chamber with helium and some hydrocarbon vapor. Run voltage through the torus such that a plasma forms on it. Then use some strong solenoid electromagnets to try and push the plasma into a self-organizing toroidal spiral that wraps around the metal torus. Then if that works, try to pinch the hole in the middle of the plasma (might need some more magnets though.)
Not sure if such a device would actually do anything interesting if built for real, but it may make some cool looking Carrara renders in the future.

Great model. Great idea. I would love to see this developed... as you say, perhaps in Carrara.
