Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

I don't have that problem anymore, filling tax forms in, he just sends me a letter telling me how much I am entitled to before he starts taxing me. They then take it out at source. They tax my sick pay and my pension from work. I hope he doesn't sting you too hard. Great work. Bravo!!!!!

Tax men are a sub-species of the dreaded Suits. I hate suits - so I really, really enjoyed this witty piece. Mike

It's time for the Flat Tax. Sure wish we could recoup some of the tax on fuel, sales, etc. Oh, that's right...they need all that...and it's still not enough!

LOL! Deja vu all over again! Splendid blend of anxiety and emotions revealed in your prophetic prose, Marilyn. The only things for sure in life are death and taxes (Benjamin Franklin). BTW, my fateful meeting with the tax guy occurs on March 15th. Just to cover all my bases, I try to bring everything of note to the event, but usually end up forgetting something vital I left at home.

Wow. Being an accountant (but NOT a tax accountant!), I have to say I have a very different "take" on the taxman! He doesn't work for the IRS - it's not an audit. HE works for YOU! It's his job to get you as much money back as possible. Now you march in there when he's done, look at your return, and say, "is this ALL you could find???" LOL! It's a great poem, btw. You've done a great job conveying the sense of fear and trepidation people have when tax time rolls around. Awesome work!

Taxes! Ugh! I hate that particular time of year and it fills me with a sense of dread whenever I think of what I owe, what I have to cough over...and all sorts of other stuff. Thankfully, nothing's ever gone terribly wrong, but still, you capture that sense of dread that taxpayers have to deal with, and it actually makes me glad to know that I'm not the only one who ever goes through that. And yeah, it seems that men in suits are always "the bad guys" and in so many ways they are...their job, after all, is to somehow separate you from the money you've made. They're bandits! And as Maxine Hong-Kingston once stated, men in suits shaking hands is even worse, because you KNOW they're up to no good. Especially if it involves YOUR tax money.

You should come and live in Belgium, the chances that your taxes are actualy controlled is 1 in a 100.... lol. Good writing!
