Description
I have been trying to rescue and then archive files on an old hard drive, and came across this one. It is a scan off a parish calendar, from about 15 years back, taken probably by Msgr Joe Chambers, showing, but not in any great detail, unfortunately, two faux / coup d'oeil stained glass windows. They are no longer part of the church decor.
I had been asked to brighten up a rather stark church interior, by the then priest, an old friend of my parents, and produced three panels, about 1.8x1.2m / 6'x4' each, painted with acrylics and enamel paints, as if they were stained glass windows. Two are shown in this shot from the choir. A Last Supper, and the Virgin Mary.
I used the faces of my police colleagues, at the time, none of whom would ever enter a church, for the Apostles and Jesus, sat around the table at the last supper. I can't remember who I used for Judas... ;o)
I have my old sketches somewhere, I think, but I did not have a camera at the time, so I have no personal photographic record of the three panels.
With Lent steadily approaching its end in Passion Week and the great Christian feast of Easter, I thought it appropriate to post this one.
Regards. John.
