Description
Just learning how to use Carrara 6.1
This is my first attempt at a landscape. There's flaws with it, I desperately need to work on the lighting and also it needs something to anchor the viewer but as a first attempt I'm happy.

Good start so far. I would start by turning off ambient light and go from there. Sometimes a bit of ambient light is needed. <5-10% Especially if not using any kind of GI rendering. With the ambient turned down or off, add your distant light and start tweaking from there. Dont be afraid to add a bulb or spot fill light in outdoor scenes. Also, if you adjust the translucency setting of the leaves and the other foliage the results will be much better. Often you can just take the mixer that you use for the color channel and put it in the translucency channel. That is a good start. Make sure you render with the "light trought transparency" option selected. That alone will really help the image. Right now the leaves are all too uniformly lit. Keep posting, looks like an interesting scene.

Hey, I am a Carrara Beginner, too and I think it is very nice for a starting point. Coming from Vue I just can't get a handle on Carrara's lighting system, so this is Very Good Scene to me!!!
