Description
The Quilt Competition
After being eliminated the prior year, Thelma was determined that this year would be her time to shine.
Bits and pieces of fabric collected over many years lay strewn around her quilt room. Sitting amongst piles of colors, Thelma began her artistic endeavor, a vision of color and texture that would surprise and delight the judges, that’s all she wanted.
“Wait till they get a look at this!”
Thelma was proud, not only did her handiwork pop with color, but last summer’s welding class paid off.
The wait for the winner was timeless. Minutes felt like hours…..
The loud speaker cracked with a blistering screech as the town mayor began to announce the winners.
“We would like to thank all the entries for today’s Quilt Challenge, and unfortunately, we must eliminate 3 before we announce the winners”
“Dixy, sorry but you cannot have Saber Tooth tiger teeth embedded in the quilt, quite frankly, that’s dangerous and illegal.”
“Joan, sorry but it’s not practical to have glitter glued to the tiles, it’s been flaking everywhere, I think I even inhaled some.”
“Thelma, sorry but it’s not practical nor is it safe to have barbed steel on a Quilt, but thanks for giving it a go.”
Thelma thought long and hard….. “Wait till next year, I’ll show em…”

Another fantastic primitive but with a com puter chip like flair. Very very nice. I have fabrics for a quilt but no quiltmaker. The textures and colrs are sensational!

Well, I spoke to Thelma, and she's entered this at the local art show and won first prize for the most inovative and most beautiful mixed media wall hanging. So there. The quilt judge can go ... ooops .. never mind. Suffice to say that Thelma is quite satisfied and very much vindicated, as first prize took care of all her bills for the next year! So I say, GO Thelma, straight to faves!
