Description

This is the same heron as yesterday's upload, but that was shot at 230mm, and for this one I zoomed all the way in to 400mm to get more of him into the frame and to get rid of some of the very messy background. I think this shows the sun shining through his beak better; I love the translucent look it has. Thanks for stopping by and any comments.

A great zoom of this guy. He was sure patient with you in allowing you to capture him so well. I, too, love the beak.

Great close up capture Dennis, looks like the metering has picked up the back feathers for the most details, in this instance I would try for spot metering on the facial area for more head detail, it would also give more DOF

You must have a magnificent camera to zoom in like this. Yes I agree it is a wonderful shot of the beak with the sun shining on it, and also of the feathers too. Wonderful capture and excellent photography - hugs Jane xx

This one is stunning, as well! I agree that the beak is beautiful in that light, but those feathers ... wow ... something about the graceful arcs, or the color ... just gorgeous.
