Description

I was going to up load a landscape image today. Had it all ready because the internet was messed up last night for about 1 hour but I got some images ready for the week to up load. I wake up this morning and ate; took a shower and took off to Lake Martin on the back way to the coffee shop in Breaux Bridge. I took some shots of the birds. Had the pink birds out there now; I think they spoon bill birds. Anyway I saw this gator and i took some shots of him. I took off down the road for I knew I had to turn around to come back anyway.[dead end road] On the way back I saw this egret and i know I had to get a shot of them together in one photo. I took many shots and I going to up load some on http://www.morguefile.com/ so if you wish to use any to put faries in the photo washing the gator you can; you know like a car wash. Just a idea if some one is in a rut on ideas to do a image. I not good on faries. As I took the photos and ready to go [yes I was outside the truck resting the camera on my truck] Two blue egret or birds took off close to me lol I jump and say to myself " if I knew they was there I would try to get the shot of the gator and those blue egrets in the shot too" I mean You have to train your eyes tol see these animals. I had on the 250mm with a 2x on it so 70x this would be about 140 to 170mm. Thanks for looking and comments I was going to crop it but i think with the land aroung it you see what going on. No the gator did not try to get the egret. Guess he knew he was too far away so he sit there in the sun

here the water is clear so that why it looks black and the sky blue is on the water. Gator is a small one guess about 3 feet long?

I love that gator. It looks so content and happy to be alive. The egret also looks happy to be alive. LOL Nice shot. It sure makes me want to see this place and experience the excitement of spotting gators in the wild.

It must be geting warmer down where you are Jocko, them gators starting to show more now. I would want some steel wellies for walking around down there plus a trusty 12 bore with five in the magazine. Excellent capture, that gator sure looks like he is enjoying the sun. Superb work. Bravo!!!!! I'm with PJ, in wishing I could be there.

It's kind of a who is interested in whom for dinner. Great capture, Jock and the detail you have included with the description is much appreciated, as always.

I love this shot. The gator looks like a young one, a gator-teenager, maybe, because he's all pointy and little. I love the whole composition here, the egret is a nice splash of white, and the details of the plant life and water all add to the somewhat sinister mood of this piece. In short, I like it a LOT for a LOT of reasons.

Cool! The alligator looks small compared to the egret! Nice to see both together and think about this. Egret looks like he'd do some serious damage to the gator.

Yep, that bird better hurry on it's way. Then again, that gator is on the "small" side. Nice capture. Aloha

Very cool shot, and I'm glad you left some of the landscape in for scale and to see the environment. Wonder if a young gator like this could catch that large an egret? Great find, Jock, the quality of your images gets better all the time.

Cool shot of the predator and the prey, Jock! I have a feeling the alligator made a fine lunch of the unwary egrets.

Our gator does not bother the big birds. She just lies on the bank. This one is a bit more alert.
