Description

Well it seems water and sunsets have been featuring quite highly in my uploads to date so I thought I'd break up the pattern for a day and upload a photo which contained neither... introducing my cat Cleopatra. The titling actually spells her name but in a font I thought looked the most like Egyptian writing/hieroglyphics of those available, the intended association being with the ancient Egyptians' view that cats were somehow divine beings... our cat certainly acts like she runs the place sometimes =) About 7 or 8 years ago our local pub landlords sold up and moved out, leaving the pub cat behind and she quickly realised she wasn't altogether welcomed by the new owners and started to make more frequent appearances in the bar, having been chased out of the back of house. We bonded through a stupid but very amusing game to me and my friends of letting the cat come in through the window by our bench seat, only to have her shoot off shortly afterwards and appear outside again, tapping quietly at the now closed window. The pub owners didn't want her and she started visiting our house (just a few hundred yards from the pub), and we didn't exactly discourage her, feeding her every now and then until she 'accidentally' stayed one night (we didn't know she had until the morning). And that was that, we'd been selected and she's been living with us ever since. This must have been one of the first shots I took with my new equipment, and in truth the cat couldn't have been more helpful, finding a nice warm spot of sun to snooze in she lit herself quite well and as for getting her to look at the camera, I didn't even have to make a sound. You know what they say about cats and curiosity, and my image stabilizer/autofocus were making some curious sounds as far as she was concerned! Enjoy =)
