Description

I was at a friend's place the other night for a wonderful dinner party. We had a great time! Of course I snuck off with my camera to take pictures of random things in their house. (Did you expect anything less?) This clock is quite large - it must be about two feet high. Lela says there's something special about it, but I've forgotten, now, what it was.

It's a very ornate and beautiful clock. Maybe what's special about it is that the cuckoo is really a duck. That floats. Like wood. Lena's not a witch, is she?

Intricate carving to this wonderful Cuckoo clock. You could have waited a couple of minutes more 7.58pm and taken an action shot of the cuckoo appearing lol. love the animal carvings but most of all the Horn curling around the clockface. Nice capture Tara.

This is a special clock as it is not one of the cheaper ones I see for sale these days. I can't tell but does it have the little wheel that rotates with little people on it (or animals) in front of the cuckoo door? I used to have a small one that had a girl and a boy that rotated just below the cuckoo. They also told the weather by turning red or blue depending on hot or cold... Excellent capture with such soft and lovely detail.

Thats quite the clock... when I was a young lad my sister used to babysit me and I slept over her house and would hear a cookoo clock all through the night... I always managed to hear the midnight chime... great details in this image, Tara!

First, what a masterpiece this is, so much going on, it has to be a hunters clock thats for sure. Superb craftsmanship, the carvings are so intricate and detailed. I notice three weights, I have never seen one like this, I have seen them with two but never three, I wonder if this has anything to do with the something special. I could hazard a guess at it being worth a four figure sum in GBP(pounds sterling) I don't know how many $'s. I've been looking at it for 5 minitues or more Tara, if I was there I would be stroking it, just feeling the wood, but then I'm crazy like that.lol. My mother used to have one but that only had one weight, just like these though, shaped and carved like a pine cone. Also like this one it had the two figures just below the cuckoo door, that were supposed to tell what the weather was going to be, I think she came out if it was fine and he came out when it was stormy or wet. Superb capture, wonderful clarity and detail, your friend has the most beautiful Cuckoo Clock I have ever seen. Awesome. Bravo!!!!!

Great shot. My mom had a cuckoo clock when we were kids, hung on her wall for ages. I have it now, in a bag somewhere, because it quit working. I really need to get it out.

Wow, these kind of clocks drive me absolutely cuckoo! Sneak factor at ultra high on this shot. Very good capture, my dear, including the elegant framework, but some subsequent postwork would have brought out the exquisite nooks and crannies in all their delicately carved glory. And how could Lela forget the particular curse that had been layed on this tick-tock? Perhaps something terrible was supposed to happen when the clock stuck the hour of eight.
