Description

Hi, thanks for stopping in. Things have been kind of slow around here of late, my muse seems to have taken a holiday and I've been relegated to starting a bunch of things that just would not come together. My hard drive is now littered with more unfinished junk than usual :) This one I finished for a project challenge over at the Dreamlight Members Club forums. The challenge is to do a render of a face, any face, any lighting against a black background. I'm a big fan of AerySoul's stuff and have lots of it, but hardly get to use it because it is _so_ distinctive and stylised that it's easy to lose one's own style. So this one is all AerySoul filtered through me... DAZ|Studio render, minimal postwork in Photohsop. Lighting is Dreamlight Basic Studio Light Set with uberspots substituted for the regular spotlights. The Key light is a little yelow and the rest are kind of bluish with dark gray shadows. PWSurface used on the skin, hair is pretty much straight out of the box. Figure is Victoria 4, Eye textures are "Eye Maps Generation 4" both from DAZ. "Alice" morphs and textures, "Fable Hair" and free vest all from Aery Soul and available at the marketplace here. This rendered in an hour or so (AO and SSS on the skin being the worst drag on render time). Post work was a level adjustment and a black and white circular gradient applied in multiply mode to darken the edges of the frame a bit and pull the subject out. A little framing, title and sig and she's done. I hope you like. Thanks for your comments and faves, as always constructive criticism and recommendations for improvement are welcomed and encouraged.

Excellent treatment, despite the very disctinctive character, you have still made her your own.

I'm a big fan of the AS Alice FBM but the Ambruso style remains intact regardless the distinct character. Lovely portrait that definately backs up the phrase "sometimes less is more". Good to see you posting again Michael!
