Hello! My name is Jodie. I live in Minnesota where the temps can fluxuate by 20 degrees in one day. Most of my photos have been taken very close to my home, a 10 acre hobby farm., where I raise Alpacas and chickens. I am a band director, a musician/singer and a photographer/adviser on the yearbook committee. My camera of choice is a Nikon. I have a D90 and a D70. I also have a SB800 flash and favorite lens is Nikon 18-200mm AF-S, with VR. Revisiting the visual arts is something I should have done years ago. If I see something remarkable, I just try to capture it. Nobody else will ever see it quite that way again so I hope you try that, too. This is just like expensive therapy for us. Thank you for visiting and may you have a peaceful day!

Great photo!

Exquisite clarity, soft hues, pose and lighting effects in this splendid portrait, Jodie. Incidentally, the word "Easter" comes from the pagan Germanic goddess of spring and sunrise, Eostre or Eastre. Others find the origin of the word Easter in Ishtar, one of the names of the Great Mother goddess of sex and fertility of ancient Middle Eastern peoples living between the Mediterranean and Mesopotamia.

I almost didn't know what to say, Odie, because the portrait seemed so simple & complete. But you've bathed it in an every-so-delicate softness (commented so well above) which is, well, perfect; I mean, I come from painting, not photography, and don't know the technicalities of these things, but I assume that softening comes in all shapes & colors, and you found the one that seemed dwelling inside this shot long before you came. And the composition seems more hewn out of light than out of 'objects'; it seeps more than glows, and bathes the viewer in this quiet beatitude. And btw, the forehead reminded me, oddly, of the Hindu dot of marital status, etc; but the spot is also associated with the third eye, the inner eye or eye of wisdom which, on this child, is absolutely natural as if she's receiving great things in this moment. (Thanks to your commenter, goodoleboy, for pointing out the origin of "Easter". We probably get the word "east" from a similar root, which after all is the place where the light begins.) All good things to you & your loved ones for the holy-day...
