Description

I saw this pose and had to capture it, when I saw it I thought of George Formby and his song:- 'Leaning on a Lampost at the Corner of the Street' Some of the lyrics here. I’m leaning on a lamppost at the corner of the street In case a certain little lady comes by, Oh me, oh my, I hope the little lady comes by. I don’t know if she’ll get away, she doesn’t always get away, But anyhow I know that she’ll try, Oh me, oh my, I hope that little lady comes by. There’s no other girl I would wait for, But this one I’d break any date for, I won’t have to ask what she’s late for. She wouldn’t leave me flat, she’s not a girl like that. Oh she’s absolutely wonderful and marvelous and beautiful And anyone can understand why, I’m leaning on a lamppost at the corner of the street, In case a certain little lady passes by. OK there is no lampost but it is the corner of the street. They made a lovely couple walking up and down the main street, posing for photo's, not posing for us but for themselves. If you look close you can see a camera strap in her hands. First she took a picture then he took one of her. Lot's more to come yet, you might even see this pair again. The day out was a real treat and no matter where you turned there was a photo opportunity waiting. Not a lot of information was gleened whilst there as there wasn't many static displays, but there was a lot of action, and some great re-enactments. A super funday was Monday. Thanks for stopping by for a look and for any comments you care to make. May the sun shine down on you, where ever you are. A bit overcast here at the momment but at least I am warm, yesterday was freezing as we had all the window panes out at the front. They have been reglazed now though, and with the triple glazing units it is much quiter and warmer now.

Nice postwork Jeff! This reminded me of the song too. As you have already said most of the shots we got of this couple were when one or the other was posing for their own pictures lol. Maybe I'll find a suitable one for uploading later. I'm like you I keep wondering what you are going to post next, great fun!

What a wonderful look in the past. So very authentic feeling as if we were there. The shot is good and clear and the characters are posed so well. Excellent shot and I am anxious to see more. I'm a big fan of this era.

Fantastic photo. Has the look of an old time except for the brilliant coloring of her clothing. Wonderful and nostalgic capture. The lyrics are the perfect accompaniment.
