Description

Being as spring is in the air, I thought it would be nice to add a few pics of kittens and pups for a while, to celebrate the miracle of new life. This is the one that I love the most, of a very young kitten aged just 9 days. I look at her sweet little body in wonderment to see the precious miracle she is. At this age she is so vulnerable, relying on her mother for warmth and food, and her breeder to take good care of her and make sure she finds the best of loving homes as she grows up. She was bred by my friend Marilyn and is a beautiful blue silver tabby British Shorthair. We hear of so many poor cats and kittens who are treated so badly in their short lives, how could anyone be so cruel? This I will never know, especially when I gaze upon such tenderness, and embrace the very gift of life. You've said it, all in one word!! Absolutely PRECIOUS!!!!!! So soft, and so delicate... in such a lovely setting and atmosphere. The colours are so gentle, most appealing to the senses, and enhancing the lovely mood in this composition! Sooo very sweet!

Precious indeed! I was staying with a friend when her young cat gradually gave birth to three kittens early one morning - on her double bed! My friend banged on my bedroom door and looked utterly shocked as she had not realised the delivery was imminent! I was due to leave but was compelled to stay! We thought that three was 'the lot' but she amazed my friend the following morning when another one popped out! This was the first time I had ever seen new born kittens and they fitted in the palm of my hand. It is wonderful to see how instinct takes over with both the mother and the kittens - almost immediately they were crawling over her to the teats. The new Mum trusted me with her kittens from the start and I felt very privileged! That was quite a few months ago and they are all now healthy and full grown!
