Description
Captured 10/28/07 at the Wings, Wheels, Rotors and Expo show held annually at the beautiful Joint Forces Training Base on the beautiful Los Alamitos Army Airfield in beautiful Los Alamitos, California.
One of several on display, this may be called a "funny car," but rather than being amused, I was mesmerized by the vehicle, built for drag racing purposes, and a loud and exhilarating sight to behold. I marvel how the drivers can control these cars while roaring hellbent down the drag strip.
Most viewers will enjoy this picture, but I know the three gentlemen who will really appreciate it no end: frankie96, jocko500, and tallpindo.
Postwork involved blurring the busy background in order to emphasize the main subject matter.
Thanks for the peek, and have a whirlwind weekend!

It's amazing that they don't just tip over or something. It looks like they'd be really hard to steer! A wonderful shot, with loads of fascinating details. I think I like the paint job on the blue one. :)

It looks like a Jr. dragster. The funny cars grew out of Factory Experimental and are stretched flip top versions of Detroit iron. Once again I have to answer yes to the insulting query, "I guess you had to be there?" The Hot Rod Shop on Grand River in 1963 was a good place to see factory B blocks before they appeared that weekend at Detroit Dragway. Was 1962 the year they could have headers but had to have full mufflers? Anyway they had 3 inch exhaust pipes. Jr. dragsters are even easier than Econorails for beginners to the top eliminator classes.
