My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

Good lighting effects in this macro of the iris, this time done in a black and white motif, which would have been most appropriate if used in the black and white horse race part of the movie, My Fair Lady.

Such a beautiful flower.... color or B&W!!!! Nice job!!!!

flowers are by nature 'visual explosions', and you've captured that here with totality. It's like a Bach Invention in that it's based on a few simple themes, but it bursts into our sight with real effusion. Do you know the work of Edward Weston? He did those famous fruit/vegetable studies where he captured a fruit as pure light, dark & furrows; and while your iris is uniquely yours, you've done something similar: You've zeroed in on bursts & folds & those saturated whites, making the flower a burst of light & power. It's why photography is called "intensified seeing"; and you've cropped it as if the flower itself dictated the dimensions, allowing its spill to dominate the space it's in. Another fine flower from your collection...
