Description
I missed the earlier phot op that Alan managed to get, and never saw the family as a whole again. I did however manage to get the two boy's sat waiting on their cases. I didn't speak to them but I can just imagine the smaller one(top image) as saying, 'Me n'me brovver are being vacuated to the country mista, they have cows and pigs out there, ain't never seen any real ones, what they like do ya know?' I just loved his cheeky grin. The other lad was bigger and older and seemed more refined, he kept clean and tidy. This was the start of the parade and they were sat quitely on their cases. The little one went out onto the tram tracks to get a better view, he wasn't in danger though, the trams had stopped running whilst the parade went ahead.
Thanks for stopping by for a look and for any comments you care to make.
May the sun shine down on you, where ever you are.
I hope all you in the UK turned your clocks on one hour today.

It's a pity about the shoes on the older boy(bottom pic) and the spectator's feet in the top shot, some things are beyond my control though. I was still happy with both shots though.

The woolen stockings and the scuffed leather shoes are so great. Short pants and caps - I love this. You got the feel of the times with the monotone too. Clear and good pov.

It must have been a very frightening time for them, even more so if you did not know where you were going. My Mum was Evacuated to her uncles in Darlington.

A beautiful render of the times. These little guys sort of looked like me, except I was skinnier. Having one of these little suitcases was a luxury! This brings back memories, even though I was a little kid on the other side. I guess the common folk suffered on both sides for what certain politicians did. Come to think of it, times haven't changed much, even though we don't have any extremes like we had then.

Kids don't really change much. Resilient to adversity that takes them from the only home they know. Viewing it as some kind of high adventure. Thanks for sharing this.

A wonderful pair of portraits, my friend! They're both excellent. I like the pensive look on the bigger boy's face. Great presentation!

These are great, so very true to the era, right down to their shoes!!

I also took shots of these two Jeff but the boy in the lower shot came out very blurred, probably hurrying my shot in case they moved lol.. I noticed you have done a great job of cropping out the full view of the people behind (top pic.) because they were in present day clothes. Its an excellent close up of how it must have been. kids clothes didn't change much for a long time after this era, I think I would have been dressed like this too.
Liam.
Cute kids

Nostalgia rules OK! These were the clothes my brother wore even though he was born in 1948.
