Description

An oasis in the desert! These springs are just off one of the main highways going into Death Valley, yet seldom visited. The sad part is the National Park Service wants to restore the desert back to it's original state and these palm trees are not indigenes to this area. Along with several other species of trees that have been introduced to this area since the 20th century, these palms are being treated so they cannot propagate and when the species dies out they are gone forever. I have mixed feelings about that, but even when they are gone, I think this area will still be beautiful!

I understand how you feel but I know there are several native California trees that can be used. The palms are pretty but it is startling to see them here. Wonderful shot and I knew right away it was an oasis from the composition.

A unique capture and interesting story. I'm with Mr. Tripp, if its not broken, don't fix it.

Beautiful image! Whether they belong there or not, they make for a wonderful view. Personally, I think they look better there than they do in L.A.!

It's probably best to let them go, but the green makes such a nice contrast with the desert colors. Well done.

Most of us aren't native to our area we live in either? that poses a different question? It's all become too extreme, IMHO... excellent image!!!!!!
