Description
Yesterday I had just left the Art and Craft group I attend and on the Path next to the roadside I noticed a Bee. I warned Sylvia to be careful as she almost stood on it not knowing it was there. Sylvia placed a piece of paper underneath its front legs prompted the bee to climb on. She carried it safely onto a thorny bush nearby.
And guess what I had my camera and took a couple of shots (a couple means 7 lol) When I viewed on my PC I was really suprised to see it was carrying eggs!

I'm afraid those might be nasty little parasites (mites), not eggs... They seem to have legs ;o)

it appears it could be the varroa mite alan .here`s the link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Varroa_destructor .its a fanatastic shot with what i fear may have an unhappy ending mick

Eeek Yeah they are mites as girsempa says probably Varroa jacobsoni which are well known in Apiculture and hold on in this fashion..

I'm in the "mites" camp with this one. Bees do their egg thing in the hive, and as far as I know, they don't carry any eggs with them. A fabulous macro!

Yup, gotta agree, mites. Here in California we have had several outbreaks of mites that have wiped out colonies all over. I think in the last few years we got them under control though. Now we have an unknown disease killing our hives. This is a stellar macro though. Such clarity and amazing details.

guess you need to google it to see if it mites on bees. this is a very good marco

Well it is an interesting capture. That article Mick gave was very informative, and I hope this little bee gets the mitacide that kills these parasites. We need our bees. Outstanding macro.
