Description

This panoramic view of the Columbia River Gorge was taken from Crown Point, which has its own interesting history. This is looking east, toward the area where I take many of my waterfall shots, and is a stitch of four shots. BTW, PhotoShop CS3 does all the work here, I don't get any credit for the stitching. I took this last Sunday, during winter's last gasp. You can see that the snow line was not far above my head. It was a bit chilly, but not too bad. I liked that fact that there is a train showing down below along with the traffic on the freeway. It would have been nice to catch some river traffic too, but the river was quiet that day. Thanks for stopping by and any comments.

This is a great picture to show the non-Oregonians what the area looks like. When Ken and I were last up there it was so foggy you couldn't see the hills at all and I was disappointed. This is a beautiful pano!

Wow..You captured this perfectly. It's hard to really capture the expanse of the gorge and you did it well. I didn't know we were neighbors... :) Southern O here. :)

I see a vista like this and my mind travels back 20,000 years and I get lost in the moment. Absolutely amazing capture.

The texturing on the point of the cliff out to your right is incredible! I also love the myriad little meandering streams all through the flat in the center. :)

Nice shot Dennis. I came through there as a young airmen on my way to Paine Field in June 1963. Saw 'Lawrence of Arabia' in Portland while I stayed there overnight. I was not aware of the railroad then. And I would not have noticed it now if you hadn't mentioned it. That says something about the scale of this gorge, Sig.....
