Description

Amsterdam has a lot of historical buildings. Here a view to the Luciensteeg, where's a entrance to a famous museum, the Historical Museum, and on the rightside in the brick wall,a collection of mostly 16th century gable stones, traditional stone carved signs who tells mostly in symbols who lives and works in that building. Its also recognizable how these buildings are build on very soft soil, they used wooden poles for fundament, they looks a bit shaking. Take care, have awonderful day

great foto, i know this alley well, close to the big secondhand bookshop "de slegte". I just bought a nice map with 100 fotos from 1915 called "monumental belgiue". By the way, I offerd that history museum, to build a 3d model of amsterdam in the 16th century for free but they werent intrested?

fine photo of a lovely place. one small remark: not all is what it seems: many old houses were built "on the fly" - which means they were built hanging over somewhat to protect the facade against rain.
