Description

here they use a trash can for a kiln. They line it with that white stuff. It is heated with gas here. They fire the pottery up then take it out and put stuff on it to burn designs on it. I saw them use a feather and some stuff that made the pattern you see here. They then spay the top with something to change the color. then set aside to cool. I not sure what you call it but it do start with a "R" sorry they told me but I forgot for I can not pronoun it lol. Guess the pottery people out there in RR will know about it

I echo the above Jocko, an exciting series this has been, you don't half get to some interesting places, it must be a hive of activity in the area that you live. There is always something happening. Superb captures all and a great collage. Bravo!!!!!

Is it Raku? I have a pot that was done in a can. Absolutely wonderful illustration, Jocko. I love this.

fine illustrqation of a fine way to make beautiful pots. it's called 'raku' - a japanese way of making cups for the tea ceremony. this is not quite the original way to do it but who cares, the result is about the same.

A few years ago I could have told you all about this. I did a lot of hand thrown clay and also molded clay. This brings back a lot of memory. Wonderful captures.
