Could some be offspring of a Mallard/Black paired with an American Black Duck.as Pop said it maybe never known since the fable of Las Vegas"what happens in Las Vegas stays there" I took this in a Aliana park in Las Vegas.I assumed it was a he and was friendly.I walked right up to it. thanks for viewing and any comments I dedicate this to those that do not post but always faithfully make comments

Sorry I am no mallard expert but sure is a pretty one! reminds me of winter some reason,...maybe because some people hunt in the winter [not me] hehe. fantastic capture Richard.

It's a peacock mallard;-) What lovely feathers--I don't think I have ever seen a mallard with the green feathers so far down before!

Nice close up! Really grabs the feathers well. Ducks often get mixed up in colors because of natural mixed breeding. The color of a mallard's beak often varies in color, widely, and sometimes feathers are altered. Great shot.

I think maybe a bit of cross breeding here Richard, but I don't know what with, most definitely some duck in there. Beautiful iridescent green, as others have said I have never seen it go so low down before, the beak also looks a bit of a mix. Excellent capture though, whatever it is. Bravo!!!!!
