Description

The 54 Chevrolet was the last specimen of a reliable and sound formula released in 49. The basic design suffered minor facelifts until model year 53, when it underwent a severe rehash while the 55 project was under way. Both the 53 and 54 were rapidly obsolete compared to the 55 design, but they had their own charm -- and a few styling clues that preceded the "Motoramic" Chevrolet. Credit goes to Ed Glowacke, Carl Renner and Clare McKichan. Interestingly enough, in 54 Chevy mimicked Ford's 53 "wide gape" grille to try make the car look wider. Production figures were high: half of GM cars in 53 came from Chevrolet. The color scheme of this model is India Ivory over Sungold. Thanks for watching.

These were so prolific when I was growing up- some of my friends were driving these to high school up into the '70's. This image definitely depicts this car in "showroom" quality (never saw one this nice!). A true icon of Americana.

You are an automotive modeling master....!!!! My Dad owned a 1953 Bel Air when I was growing up... I remember it was powered by an in-line 6 cylinder... On the door sill was stamped "Body by Fisher"... Excellent model as always...

I had one just like this...only it was green. It had "three on the tree" that I converted to a Hurst floor shift. I thought it was hot stuff. Thanks for the memories....

Beautiful picture. But in the interests of technical accuracy, that's a '53 grill.

Another terrific rendering......and just for the sake of technical accuracy e56s is incorrect. The grille you have portrayed is indeed a '54 grille. The '53 had only 3 uprights and round bezels in the corner of the grill. Peter

Thanks all for the replies! I am posting a render of the 53 Two-ten, just like the one Dad owned from 54 through the early Seventies. And Peter is right about the grille.
