Description
Paronella Park...One man's dream
The earliest structure, the Grand Staircase, was built to facilitate the carrying of the river sand to make the concrete. First they built a house to live in, then they started on the Castle itself. Apart from the house, which is made of stone, all of the structures were constructed of poured, reinforced concrete, the reinforcing being old railway track. The concrete was covered with a plaster made from clay and cement, which they put on by hand, leaving behind the prints of their fingers as a reminder of the work they had done.
The rainforest is slowly taking back what once belonged to it, which adds to the character of this place, the plaques on the stairs are flood levels from over the years.

Wow! Looking at the plaques, he really built this in a dangerous place, that top plaque must be 15 to 20 feet above your head, that is some serious flooding. A thought provoking shot if I ever saw one Sue, who owns the place now? It's obvious that you can access the place, but is it just a deserted ruin or do you have to pay to visit? Whatever, it must be facinating to explore the place, I'm looking forward to the tour. Excellent capture, very interesting narrative. Bravo!!!!!
