My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

Fun post, Tara. It looks like they're ready for the icecaps to melt LOL.

Well I confess I thought Seattle was in Canada! But it's close! My USA geography could do with an intensive course. I quite like this shot, I can compare these facilities with our own rather different ones. What a shame they are all whitish!

I thought that "dry storage" was a funny title for your pic until I read your narative and discovered that this is actually the clasification! lol! Great shot Tara and it looks fantastic in b/w!!

Well I have never seen anything like this in my life. I have to agree with Dennis, it looks like they are ready for the great flood. If I was a boat owner I think it would make me nervous having my boat hoisted up there. But then I don't know that I would want a boat on the bottom either in case the one on top fell. I guess it is a good thing I only own a canoe that I store in my garage.

I have heard of dry dock, but this is a first for me Tara, I just assumed they berthed them in a Marina if they weren't being used, or taken home on a trailer. I must admit I have never given it any thought before now. So yes it is quite interesting you know I like to learn things every day, I'm just as inquisitive as you. I would love to be there to watch the forklift collect or deposit a couple, I would be clicking away like Billy'o. Excellent capture and an interesting informative narrative as well. Superb work. Bravo!!!!!5+++++ I'll follow the links now, Thanks.

Me too, never seen anything like this before. You have captured this well, an excellent B&W composition. Thanks for the information, I was fascinated to hear that they pick them up and bring them for you, forklift trucks and slings Wow! amazing stuff.

Multi-storey parking for boats! Now I've seen everything ... I still can't believe it - thanks for sharing. Great picture btw. Mike

Holy smokers, Tara, since I've only been exposed to boats moored sitting side by side in the water among our local marinas I had never dreamt that there was such a thing as a stacked drydock or parking lot of sorts for these vehicles. Startling for sure. This is a quite efficient method of saving space. And I don't find it boring at all. Educational and informative, but not boring.

Hey, I'm from the Texas Coast and we had similar facilities down there. So this sort of reminds me of home. Excellent shot!

Great picture for a black and white.

The b/w works well here. It's not so much the color that is interesting in this as the composition and the amazing sight of so many boats dry docked.
ledwolorz
Great capture for a black and white.
