Description

I think for the time being I'll make this the final image from my road trip photos - I may post a different angle of Eilean Donan at some point but most of the rest of the shots fall more under the banner of 'touristy snap' rather than something slightly more worthy of being posted here.. This was taken on the way back from Glasgow on the home leg of the journey, near to a place called Falkland which has a massive estate and Castle. I'd been there once before on a class trip and was trying to find a place to stretch my legs. We drove straight through the place unwittingly and ended up at the top of a hill overlooking this view. It was very cold and a bit windy and I managed to get into a bit of an argument with a barbed wire fence getting to (and leaving!) this spot. I briefly managed to fire off a couple of normal exposures and 3 auto-bracketed ones, the result of which you see here. This shot vaguely bugs me in that at the time I knew the foreground was lacking for a subject but was too cold to move any further from the car than was necessary! Hopefully the contours of the land are enough to carry the composition; opinions welcomed =) Adam f/22 ISO: 200 Focal length: 50mm

I believe the contours work very well as interest. The view is massive and open, the foreground is a good lead into the lakes beyond and the rays of light are the icing on the cake.

I think this looks superb and I like the lighting in the foreground and the grassy textures - adding something else to it could have caused the image to look cluttered. A very beautiful capture with masterful postworking in my opinion!
