Description

In honor of the little 5.2 quake we enjoyed here a few mornings ago. Also, a belated render for Markal's unofficial "red" challenge. Ah, Terragen; it's like the proverbial bicycle- you never really forget. Terragen .9x and Photoshop; two renders combined for the crack effect. World Machine created the terrain. Thanks for viewing and any comments you care to leave.

Now that's some fault line crack. Talk about displacement. Cool render and great effect you have created.

Well done; Yeah, I talked to my folks back in Terre Haute just after the 4.2 aftershock. A bit disconcerting even though they have not forgotten about the New Madrid or the Wabash faults near them.

Great terrain and atmosphere- definately other-worldly! The detail in the ground and rock is impressive and doesnt seem to repeat at all, does Terragen generate texture maps for the terrain or is it fractal-like procedural textures?

Yeee hah! Here I was in Tennessee and that bad boy rocked me out of my bed at 4:30 am. I thought the Jolly Green Giant was running a marathon through the house! I jumped up out of bed and went looking for him. I don't know what I thought I would do if I found him...I didn't find out what it was until I got up for the morning about an hour later. I just saw a special on the history channel about teutonic plates and what causes mountains and valleys and such. Great render and sorry about the ramble. This is great.

Geeze - hard to believe it - but it looks like the New Madrid is starting to wake up - we here in north Texas are not exempt... excellent old-style TG!

Hey Paul, I had an image some time ago with the same title. I liked the tool in TG0.09 that allows you to do some sculpting work. I like this image a lot. Excellent render!
