Description
This is a wild bird, one of a number who landed on a fence when I was driving past. He posed quite happily for me-- this shot was taken from about 5 feet away, so he's obviously used to people. Beautiful birds but they can be both noisy and destructive. Their squawk is loud and raucous, and they love chewing wood-- if a flock lands on your house you have problems !! Very powerful beaks help chew through your woodwork very quickly.They make great pets-- good talkers, and very intelligent and affectionate-- also a good sense of fun.

My daughter's pet shop has one named Bert and she is very stubborn. She only likes women and only certain women. She loves to sit on your shoulder and is very difficult to talk into going back in her very large cage. She says a few words too, dances and will do just about anything for attention. This is a fabulous capture. Very detailed.

A beautiful bird, but very destructive, not only with wood, we have had them strip all the fruit off several of our citrus trees, great to watch during a storm as they clown around. Great capture.
