Description

TO READ YOU WILL NEED TO ZOOM A number of people have made very kind comments about some of the frames I have used in my images. These frames are made by a process of my own devising using MS Digital Image software. As far as I know it is an original method - certainly I stumbled upon it purely by experiment. The process does not require any drawing ability, but does need patience and time, particularly for the first few frames, but you will soon learn short-cuts and quick fixes. My first frames used only the small number of basic shapes supplied in the program, either alone or in combination, and the breakthrough came when I added some scanned Celtic knotwork and symbols which I'd done in my youth when interested in calligraphy. I quickly realised that another source of symbols was in to be found in the many free symbol fonts ... these were printed at 72pt and scanned onto my hard disc to give me a large number of symbols from which to choose. The rest of the process is outlined above and is basically just a process of assembly and then postwork using just 3 special filters - negative, neon glow and emboss [subtle] which are found in most similar programs. I've also used the same technique to create 'architectural masonry' as in MEDIAEVAL http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=1628563 Hope this was of interest! PS ... following a couple of site messages - yes, the Welsh Moonflower story was a spoof! Beware Meic's 'legends'!

Blinded by your brave tale, I put my trust in your friendship. I am crushed Crushed! At your admission of perfidy. I shall attempt to reassemble The shattered pieces of my lovely dream. Wholly taken in, Alight with starry-eyed wonder, I marvelled at your romantic tale. My innocence is lost ... Forever ... sobs, back of hand against forehead I shall do my best to soldier on, Gather the dream shards of my hope, My faith in humankind, And do my best to trust again. sighs ;) .......... Nice tutorial, btw! :)

How cool. I have a friend who uses the same Software and she makes beautiful frames too, but I don't know if it is by the same process or not! Lea

Very elucidating text, thamks for it. I always loved your frame work, very characteristic for many of your creations. Further I always am very interested in such designs. (Do you know "Pattern Design" of A.H.Christie, 1910, Dover reprint of 1969)
