Description

Townspeople in Thailand gather to give offerings to monks in order to improve their karma. I like this much better than the way some do it here in the US, where snake-oil televangelists target and threaten old ladies with hellfire and brimstone unless they sign over their life savings to a phoney church. Sure, there are probably a few twisted monks out there, perhaps just as many as in any other religion, but at least in this image, I see nothing but a simple, positive ceremony. Besides, when was the last time you heard the term, "radical fundamentalist Buddhist terrorists"?

Can't agree more with you on the televangelists, here in the States...wolves in sheep's clothing!! This is a very colorful and intriguing capture. Has a spiritual quality about it.

It's always fascinating to see humans bowing and kneeling before other human beings. Both are to be admired and respected...A gorgeous capture, full of meaning for me.
