My firefly chaser
I haven’t seen you in 30 years
But in my mind
The years have been very kind to you
You had the best of both worlds
You had the look of a lady
The passion of a woman
But you saw the world
With the enthusiasm
Of a child
You turned this boy
Into a man
You taught me
That running through a field naked
Was not an adventure
It was a necessity
When I just knew
I couldn’t live without you
You had to run away
It wasn’t because you didn’t love me
It was because you were born
To chase fireflies
