Description

About a month ago, Harry (goodoleboy) posted a few shots of palm trees from this very interesting perspective. I was inspired! We don't have palm trees up here. Well - not healthy ones, in any event. Every once in a while someone (undoubtedly from out of town) decides the landscape could use a few, but they don't last very long. So here you have a Douglas Fir tree. I stood right at the base and shot up into the tree, but realized quite quickly that I would need another shot from the street in order to show you how tall the tree really is. The shot on the left is the full length version, of course, and the lowest branches are "about here." The shot on the right is looking up into those low branches. A few people had said they get vertigo looking up like that, and I was interested to see if it would bother me to take a shot of this sort, but I suffered no ill effects. The house on the right is mine, by the way. Thanks, Harry!

Even though I've seen a zillion Doug Firs, this is interesting because of the texture and the unique POV.

Oooh, nice image! When I saw the "About here" mark, I thought that was where you'd somehow attached yourself with a climbing harness! That's just how my mind works, before I actually READ accounts! I love the detail you captured here and the POV is wonderful.
