Description
Brontotherium meaning-"thunder beast') is an extinct genus of the family Brontotheriidae, an extinct group of rhinoceros-like herbivores related to horses. The genus was found in North America,Early Oligocene.
The animal was 2.50 m (8 ft 4 in) tall at the shoulders.
Lot of Brontotherium remains have been found in South Dakota and Nebraska. In the past, specimens were found by Native Americans of the Sioux tribe. They believed these creatures produced thunderstorms when running over the clouds, and called them "thunder horses". The skeletons found by the Sioux belonged to animals which were killed by volcanic eruptions of the Rocky Mountains, which were volcanically active at the time.

cool dino picture... They look a lot like rhinos... The nose is definately different but the eyes, ears and mouth are unmistakably rhino... The other difference I noticed was head size compared to body... Rhinos must of gotten big heads from surviving from the dinosaurs - lol... Excellent picture - museum Quality!
