Narchi had shaken his head and said, "Jeet, put your fuzzy tail into gear--'FUEL DEPOT'!" Narchi then waved a hand around and snapped curtly, "Yes, a detpack would destroy it AND us AND part of the whole city if we place it in here!" Jeet, the squirrel-derived Beastman smiled and said, "We'll plant it OUTSIDE on the armored shutters of that deserted control room! I'll take Neon's hold-out and perch on the furtherest fuel boom, and Narchi, you'll lure the Tunnel-Runner toward you on the second boom. It'll slide across the armored shutters, over the detpack, and we'll engage it in a cross-fire." Narchi nodded, sweat dappling his green skin. "Best case, the magnetically adhered Tunnel-Runner is blown off the city. Worse case--detpack blows a hole in it, and we blast the hole until is dies. Let's go." Jeet moved with as much speed as was safe...for him. Jeet moved Narchi with his Trow pulse-blaster pistol up onto the second boom motor box, and secured Neon next to him as best as he could. Jeet noted that the King's Police had unpacked the Tunnel-Runner robot and was in the process of deploying it when he grabbed up Lime. Jeet snapped to her, "Crap, out of time. Hang on my back. I have to plant the detpack and get you someplace." She hung on and he swung out the hatch. She squealed in fear as he landed on the armored shutter. He almost dislodged Lime trying to get out the detpack. He slapped it onto the shutter, and swung out into the void over the ground below. He looked down two miles to the surface below. Lime hyperventilated and whimpered in terror as she saw the city ruins far below and clouds floating by underfoot. When Jeet hit the ventilator vents, Lime shrieked. Jeet had to almost pry her off of him, as he had shouted,"Grab onto the damned VENT! It's COMING! GRAB THE VENT,LIME!" He pushed her onto the vents and pushed off. "Climb up! MOVE!" She fumbled and moved in slow-motion to his senses, he then saw her body language. She was terrified. She must be afraid of heights. He groaned and got into position. He pulled out the detonator and held it in the left hand, as he drew out the projectile pistol. He looked around at the awesome view, on a pipe four inches in diameter, twenty meters from the wall of the city-rim. He saw a pair of eagles wheeling around just a hundred feet from him. He feared the eagles more than the two mile drop. Jeet cursed his squirrel instincts. Jeet whistled as he saw the shadow moved in the open hatch. The mirror-finished Tunnel-Runner slid out, flashing sunlight around it. Narchi fired a pulse at low power at it. It surged toward Narchi with inhuman speed, right over the detpack. The explosion sheared off part of the thing's head and almost shook it off the hull. It did stop, however. Narchi jacked up the power on his pulse-blaster to max and started auto-firing at the gaping wound of metal on the robot. Jeet had never fired a projectile pistol before. The flash and huge bang almost blew him off his perch. The bullet blew right through the Tunnel-Runner's armor and blew up inside. With his left arm over the fuel-boom, Jeet fired twice more, and the scraps of the robot cascaded down the side of the city to disappear into the clouds below. He pulled himself up, and started walking toward where Lime was. One of the Eagles screamed at him. Jeet fired a round at them and shouted,"On behalf of Squirrel-derived guys everywhere-- screw off, raptors!" --TO BE CONTINUED!--
