She's well-presented, especially with the richly detailed fur, and yet ... She's too skinny, evoking physical suffering. At least, the song often proffered for this day on the calendar begins "Arise, ye pris-n'rs of star-va-tion," doesn't it? Strike one. She doesn't look at all distinctly Russian to me, thus losing much of the point of the undeniably witty title wordplay. Strike two. She's sitting in front of — I can't avoid saying this, and somebody had to — a symbol of a State that dealt in vicious oppression and mass murder. One of the worst such symbols, and regimes, in human history. Strike three, and this work, for me, is out of bounds as to what's appropriate. My apologies for going against the usual mores of this site, by offering a comment this strong — but your background profoundly disturbs me, the symbol utterly detracts from your rendered art, and you did, after all, ask for comments.
