Description

I was re-working my spaceship model last weekend, and started wondering what it might look like in TG2- so I gave it a shot, and was pleasantly surprised to see the UV mapping and model look this good. The downside is that TG doesn't use mesh smoothing like other 3D apps, so I'm going to have to investigate further in model creation for Terragen 2. I also get less-than-satisfactory mapping of textures on planets, but that too will get better. I also discovered the starfield background steps in a tutorial on facepunch studios. I do like the lighting on the ship here. Terragen Tech Preview; the model was created in Studio Max, with UVMapper for the model texture map. Some minor adjustments in Photoshop. The Ganymede map is from Steve Alber's site. Thanks for views and comments.

This is exciting Paul, You've done a marvelous job here. You should post this work at the Planetside forum in the Image Sharing section. My friend has just finished some beautifully detailed work with models by with playing with UV mapping in TG2.

Despite the polygon smoothing you mention, I see a very detailed and well modeled ship, definately a cool start- if you want recommendations, I would say that adding physical model detail into the hull would be very cool, some bump maps or displacement maps to add some physical detail to the hull, giving it a look of something completed from many pieces of alloy, etc. It's a very cool model!

smoothing can be overrated...;) try importing something into Poser without careful consideration...;) been there, done that. Good modeling, likes it, keep up the good work.
