Description

Hello All ! Taken at William S Hart ranch in Newhall CA. They are free range bison . Originally this guys ancestors were given as a gift to Will Hart ( a silent film movie actor-played mostly cowbows ) by Walt disney in the 60's . You have to hike up a mountain to get to these guys . They are on a hillside and not always in view ... just got lucky this day! Shot with my canon (8mp sl-100sx 10zoom pocket cam )on full zoom . he was maybe 300-400 feet away) so did some of my postwork to help try and draw him out !... Fact; -Did you know the North American Bison is North America's largest land animal? He really was a playful !! It was so funny cause he would grab his tail yank on it, and go round and round in a circle like a puppy ... hehe I had never seen anything quite like it before. Thanks for your time and comments !! Love to all , ((( BIG HUGS ))) ~ Kimmers !! ♥ :O)

Like Mick I have seen dogs do this and also fox cubs but have never known larger animals to do it, well spotted. I also saw a calf do something similar a few weeks back, artaddict2 and I were in the farm yard at Heaton Park, there was a two week old calf trying to bite his backside. Lol. Excellent capture Kim, a wonderful young beast. Bravo!!!!!

I wish I could bend like that... but then I'd be accused of licking my own bum... so perhaps not. Nice and crisp image Lady!

nice shot ! he is perhaps still at the stage of life where everything is new and exciting, even his tail. looking at his coat, i am reminded as to why snow melts on cows but not on bison - bison have such think coats and are so well-insulated with fat that they lose very little heat, so snow just piles up on their backs....
