Description

Nikon 7900 pocket camera - hand held image. From the very first day I got my little Nikon, I realized it was a so - so pocket camera for most settings but one with very good close up abilities. As a result, I seldom take a pic when I am more than 4 inches from my subject and I usually fill up the entire view screen with whatever bug I am focused on. However, I do occasionally attempt to capture some other images from greater distances. Today's posting is an example of one of those. I personally do not think this image is anything other than a decent snapshot of a neat moment in time but I am posting it anyway, lol. If nothing else, you may get a sense of the excitement I felt when I opened my front door last week and saw 7 deer grazing in my front yard. They were about 40 foot from me and seemed unaware I was standing so close to them. I only managed to get 4 of then in any one shot. The other 3 were always just out of my field of vision as I looked thru the LCD screen. I often see deer in the yard but 7 at once is unusual. Tomorrow I will start a week's worth of images that show very tiny critters. Almost all the images fall short of being "crisp" but they provide a decent look at a few insects that are less than 1/8 inch long. I did manage to get at least 2 shots that demonstrate my camera can actually get a sharp focus on critters that small, but I have not been able to find the "sweet spot" very often, lol. Thanks to those who take the time to comment. Lee

I see so many mule deer and black tail here that I had forgotten how shot and tawny whitetails could be. 7 is a riotous number! I don't know if I'd have enough brain cells to think about a camera if I walked out to that. I'd have enough trouble shutting my mouth. Fabulous shot.

How wonderful to have these on your doostep! My little pocket camera is better at macro too! (But I couldn't be bothered with a lot of bulky gear.)

You should send this and a couple of your macro shots to Nikon Lee, to show them what you can achieve with their little pocket camera, tell them for a small fee you will allow them to use them for advertising their product. I know I would, who knows what can come of it until its tried. You never know they might take you up on the offer and send you a few dollars as well. Like PJ I think I would be dumb struck and opened mouthed still on the porch. I have said before Lee you have an affinity with little critters, they know you mean them no harm. It looks like your fame is spreading to the not so little critters as well. Superb capture for such a small camera, but then its not just the camera, its the person behind it as well. You are a very lucky guy to have this on your door step. Bravo!!!!!
