Description

Well I thought it was about time I properly introduced myself =) This was taken the same day as my last 2 posts while wandering round town with my flatmate enjoying the sun. Just here we'd stopped off to sit out on the street and grab a bite to eat for lunch, watching the world go by, half of whom had ice creams (typical knee-jerk reaction to a spot of sun here!). I was playing about with reflections in the window and my sunglasses when Zach said he wanted to try a shot so I told him roughly how to work the thing what to press etc and this is what I saw when we got the pics back home. As a general rule I'm not a fan of pictures of myself (who is?!) but didn't immediately hate this so maybe it's ok..! I rarely seem to get on this side of my camera and this is the first shot of myself I've seen with my newer lens... it's not exactly a planned portrait but a fairly honest shot of how I am on an average day... can't quite remember whether I was squinting cos of the sun or giving some kind of look to Zach who seemed more interested in snapping at passing lovelies on the pavement...well I can't really blame him for that one..! Not exactly scrubbed up, bit tired, scruffily dressed, but I guess that's how you'd see me on the street on a typical day when I'd rolled out of bed a few minutes late and had to bolt out the door straight for class... oh and don't pay any attention to the hat - I'm not really called Sam ;) Thought it'd be an apt shot for my 50th post, a kind of 'hello' =) I actually want to do a proper portrait at some point when I have time but as a wee snapshot I thought this was an ok shot to try and better.. still getting to grips with b&w processing too... One thing to note in case anyone spots it - the hole under my bottom lip is one place I used to have a piercing.. haven't worn it for years and never will again but the damn thing ain't gonna heal up anytime soon it seems..! Happy bank holiday to those with the day off =) Adam

So your mouth is sort of like a dribble glass? LOL My daughter has one on her lip to one side but she now wears the tiniest of diamond studs there. and she has one on the upper lip higher up and she wears another tiny diamond stud there. Almost looks like a piece of glitter until you look closely. Its the eyebrow bar that bothers me most I guess. Seems as if it just hangs on the thinnest of skin and might pull out any time. Brrrrrrrrrr. Makes me quake. But, I am drifting off, aren't I? Your portrait is excellent. I like it off to the side so the street is seen behind you. Give this an honest feeling. You look comfortable and happy in your skin. If you'd prettied up, you wouldn't look like you I don't think. You are young and so only your eyes and your mouth show your character but in a few years you will begin to develop character in the creases of your eyes and at the corners of your mouth. I think you will like what you see then as you like what you see now. You have a gregarious nature.

Good to meet you, Adam, and I like how you took this chance to meet the world here. The background with the people gives it a great feel, a bit gritty, even more real -- nice shot!!

Your're a good-looking youmg man, Adam. Glad you got rid of the lip thingy, can't have a art student following someone elses trends, should be being unique! Super to put a face to the great pics you post.

Great portrait; I thought of half a dozen things to say but they'd all sound cheeky so I won't. You're a right handsome young man!

Congrats on your 50th, Adam! You do look younger than that for sure! It made me wonder if I would ever creep out from showing just my eyes in my icon... maybe one day!
