Description

Okay, this is my first ever render. Everever. Got Poser at 3:27 this afternoon and then I set to work. The texture is Vanessa, by Maira X (maira@inorbit.com). It's freestuff, and absolutely gorgeous. It's a fairly standard body, but her eyes and lips are beautiful. I highly recommend getting this. I mean, it's free... No skin off your back, right? Everything else I painted myself. Stupid for a first render? I agree! But my nice graphics card is having problems and my old one can't handle the stress of running Poser for more than a few minutes, so I just posed her, lit her, rendered, and then moved on into Photoshop. I'm actually rather fond of the bikini top. The skirt definitely needs something more in the middle. I'm thinking maybe a more woven texture to it? I think I could do it. Her hair is alright, but it just doesn't seem to fit in the same mood/texture as the rest of the image, in my opinion. I had had a whole scene planned, but that will have to wait until I have my GeForce 3 back, methinks. I have no idea what the girl is doing out in the dark in a bikini top, but... ;D That's not my business. PLEASE!! Comment!! And anyone who says "Perfect!" or "Beautiful!"... I will hunt you down and kick you. This is my first render, there is NO WAY that there is nothing I can improve, so _please_ say so! Especially on painting! I haven't read a tutorial yet, but I've been ogling the works of many of you, especially Ferguson, and I can use all the help I can get to try to get even a miniscule amount of ability that could compare! I apologise for the long comments, but it's a first render, so... ::shrug:: To anyone who comments, thank you! To anyone who made it this far in my notes, thank you! And to everyone who contributes to Renderosity, you guys are my inspiration that made me do this. Thank you!

Always glad to see new work in the galleries. I actually like the skirt more than the top. As for improvement, i think the legs/arms are too blurred. Hope to see more work from you.

For a first one is very good. If you can do this so quickly, I can hardly wait to see what you'll be doing in a couple of months! Last but not least, I'm glad you liked Vanessa. Perhaps you will like Silver as much. She's free too and you can find her at my site (www.libra-studios.com). Keep rendering! :-)

OK, I'm really sorry it took so long for me to comment on this.... I was away from the site for a bit,... Thank you for your kind words... but I'm telling you... you're well on your way... The fact that you're painting at all on your first render is really incredible... and I think you've done an excellent job, ESPECIALLY considering that. For the clothes, I would suggest dodge/burn to add more contrast between your shadows and highlights... and to have some vertical folds hanging in the skirt... That's basically it, really...As for the hair, I would make the same suggestion about contrast.... and I write crappy tutorials, but SkoolDaze has a great one in the Tutorials section here, as does DebbieM. Oh, and picky does too, right in her gallery. I've taken a bit from all of them. My first one was from dcort at www.dacort.com. Hope this helps, and welcome to the site!!! :)
