Description

Captured 4/26/08, around noon, at the annual health fair held in the parking lot of our chic city hall. These are members of a class that teaches Mexican dancing. I don't know what was happening in Minnesota on that day, but it was in the mid 90s fahrenheit while this colorful ensemble was strutting their stuff. And the music emanating from the huge speakers was louder than you can imagine....a cacophony of epic proportions. I snapped several shots of the performers, who were whirling and jumping about and probably most uncomfortable in their costumes, but appeared to be enjoying themselves, despite the heat. Shutter speed 1/1000th of a second. Because of the bright sunlight, the photos came out with a very stark contrast between dark and light, hence, a ton of postwork was performed to bring them into decent balance. I also cloned out irrelevant stuff in the background so the performers would be the dominant factor. Since there was so much rapid movement during this exhibition, several of the photos are unacceptable and will have to be jettisoned. And it took a gabacho/gringo to bring all this to you. Have a wild whiz of a work week!

I'll tell ya what was happening in Minnesota!! It was a gorgeous 68 and sunny. I went to the park to shoot pics, but I think you had MUCH more fun, Harry. Lovely shots of the dancers!

This is fabulous Harry, I love the way the ladies skirts swirl so clearly and sharp, giving an all in all exceptional action photo. I like the top one best of all, but both are superb!!! hugs Jane xx
