I took this at a high iso to get the details to show because an dark overcast morning.the 66 FJ, the passenger sits on top of the gas tank.Toyota quit selling the FJ in the USA because they did not want to fix them to pass safety laws. I would have rather had the old style
yesterdays post could be a moth.I tried to identify it, but have not

I like the 66. It looks like a serious off-roader. The new one I would be afraid to scratch up. I remember when the 66s were around and many people had them. Because they were fairly narrow you could take them into places were a Blazer or Bronco would not be suitable. Sig...

Both are nice rides! I didn't know the FJ had ever been sold in the US before last year, cool.

With the license plate mounted in the grille he is not worried about cooling. In this sense his logic is like pickup owners in Montana who mount the spare tire on the front to give fast warm up on frigid mornings. No need for a zipper radiator cover. A lot has happened in four wheel drive. Shift on the fly, full time FWD, silicone couplings for traction control, the old way is definitely the way to break something on road but off road was sufficient for a careful cross country who used locking hubs to avoid wear and compensate for the different ratios front rear to give balance on dirt.

Cool capture. I like both of them. I like cool older (1966 is not that old :), especially of that year, since it's the year of my birth. Nice job, Richard!!

Oh I miss the FJ's. Toyota had discontinued the old-style FJ's in Japan. The modern FJ Cruiser is not available in Japan.

Neat shot! I'm surprised there's not more clearance on yours, though. You mmight have to be careful to avoid scraping something over Elephant Hill, I'd think, but you should go. Hehe.
