Description

Flamingo's, Chester Zoo, Cheshire, UK. They say the pink is created by their diet of shrimp, it looks like some of these are better fed than others. I don't know the reason for it but some are a darker pink than others, yet they are all in the same compound. http://www.chesterzoo.org A great place to vist, has some great breeding programs, but only open 10.00 to 17.00 is not long enough to explore 110 acres of award winning gardens. Packed with 7,000 animals and over 400 species many of which are endangered! Thanks for stopping by for a look and for any comments you care to make. Thank you to those that don't comment, at least you looked. May the sun shine down on you, where ever you are. Been sunny for a couple of days now here in Lancs UK. I found the name of Alans Bird, it is 'The Lilac Breasted Roller' 'Coracias caudata'

Great composition to this shot, I love the colour of these and yes I looked them on Wikipedia and said they do get their colour from eating shrimp. Like the Pano cropping! nice work.

brings back a memory of my daughter, and being at some friends for dinner and they served shrimp, and my daughter didn't want to try it, and when we asked her why, she said she didn't want to turn pink like a flamingo,, LOL. So they made her something else.. Nice picture Jeff..
