Description

Flamingo's, Chester Zoo, Cheshire, UK. They say the pink is created by their diet of shrimp, it looks like some of these are better fed than others. I don't know the reason for it but some are a darker pink than others, yet they are all in the same compound. http://www.chesterzoo.org A great place to vist, has some great breeding programs, but only open 10.00 to 17.00 is not long enough to explore 110 acres of award winning gardens. Packed with 7,000 animals and over 400 species many of which are endangered! Thanks for stopping by for a look and for any comments you care to make. Thank you to those that don't comment, at least you looked. May the sun shine down on you, where ever you are. Been sunny for a couple of days now here in Lancs UK. I found the name of Alans Bird, it is 'The Lilac Breasted Roller' 'Coracias caudata'

Great composition and sensibly cropped. They are indeed lovely. I know they get their pink color from plankton like food in the water but I am also at a loss why one would find a difference in the amount of coloring.

A beautiful capture Jeff. Love the reflections. Maybe they keep those hours short on purpose to force you to come back and charge you again. This seems to be a really nice zoo judging by the enclosures, Sig....

Lovely shot, they are among my favorites at the zoo, as well. I think I read the diet is the key to their color. Nicely done, sir!
