Hello! My name is Jodie. I live in Minnesota where the temps can fluxuate by 20 degrees in one day. Most of my photos have been taken very close to my home, a 10 acre hobby farm., where I raise Alpacas and chickens. I am a band director, a musician/singer and a photographer/adviser on the yearbook committee. My camera of choice is a Nikon. I have a D90 and a D70. I also have a SB800 flash and favorite lens is Nikon 18-200mm AF-S, with VR. Revisiting the visual arts is something I should have done years ago. If I see something remarkable, I just try to capture it. Nobody else will ever see it quite that way again so I hope you try that, too. This is just like expensive therapy for us. Thank you for visiting and may you have a peaceful day!

Very nice Jodie, are those real or fake boulders in the water? Nice composition here! Thanks for sharing!

Very nice photo.. :-)

Beautiful shot. The guy in the wheelchair makes this especially moving. The names on the wall are those of the US internment camps used for Japnanese-Americans during WWII. Coupled with the Japanese style crane, I'm guessing it is a memorial to those poor souls sent to these camps. (And I realize it was war and all, but that nevertheless doesn't take away from the tragic if not immoral aspects of these camps.) Great capture and an interesting monument I was unaware of.

I've been to DC once, and that was back about 1981 - Mid-summer trip to visit a g/friend that was stationed in Quantico. I've always wanted to go back, and if Possible, go when the cherry blossoms are out. LOOKS GORGEOUS Jodie... :)

The cherry blossoms provide a special border for the pond. How sad but also appropriate for trees to stand guard over history.

It looks like rain in Cherry Blossom Lane, It looks like rain, it looks like rain..... Fine composition and detail in this capture of the pond and environs, Jodie. The photo looks like one of those infrared concepts that TwoPynts likes to post. Speaking of which, whatever happened to TwoPynts? Haven't seen him around for quite a spell.

h, how beautiful this shot is! The cherry blossoms are gorgeous, and I also love the stones in the pond. Almost Japanese composition.

(I realize I never commented on this! Missing a jodie shot borders on criminal!) Yes, duncan's comments are really helpful, and his comments would explain the "japanese garden" design of the memorial (especially the stray rough stones, the Japanese use stones the way we would use bushes). And as duncan points out, it's very poignant that you got the man in the wheelchair. I never cease to be amazed at your eye—you have 3 distinct layers, the sidewalk, the memorial, and those crazy pedestrian buildings in the background that seem to 'crash' the serenity of the scene! Just what cities do, everything piling on top of everything else...But your pov makes the memorial caress us, sweep around us, a small intimate world inside a big chaotic one. Lovely, J, as always. And nice color-harmony too.
