Lady Depression When the dark days take you, And hide you deep within. Remember that I’m always here, On the outside looking in. If I could help to set you free, You know I’d gladly do so. I send my cheery thoughts to you, But somehow they never get through. I try to vanquish she who holds you, If only I could find a way. But Lady Depression holds so tight, And she’s such a hard foe to slay. She pulls you deep within yourself, And the tangles of self doubt grow. Until you see just worthlessness, Not the wonderful person I know. Sometimes when I look into your eyes, I see nothing but darkness there. I wish that I could bring you back, And the joy of living we’d share. I hope that when your mood has lightened, And you read these words…this plea. Take them deep into you heart, And with them a small part of me. ------------------------------------------------ This poem is dedicated to three friends of mine who have had some form of depression for as long as I have known them. They are all very talented people who's talents go to waste because of how depression drags them down and tears at their self image. I wish I could help them more, but all I can do is be here if and when they want me to be. I hope they know that I will always be here...
