Description

Captured 5/2/08, very early in the morning, within walking distance of my place. Top photo shows the original, with the fence and the sliding gate in the open position behind it. I believe at least 65% of the iron fences I encounter during my morning walks are of this fleur-de-lis design -- elegant, but sharp on top. The bottom shot is a postworked version of the same photo utilizing the Polar Coordinates filter/philter, one of my favorite things, which often gives the impression of falling down the rabbit hole with Alice, of Wonderland fame. Little chance of surviving this particular trip unscathed. Thanks for the visit, and for any kind and uncritical comments.

Nice job - got me thinking what you could do with a "flat" shot of the fence (take a photo of the fence from a long distance away with a tele-lens...) the tops should all be on the same plane and all should be the same size in perspective. Then do the same thing with the polar coordinates - you will have a view almost like you are standing in the middle of a circular fence looking up! :)

Inshaala has a point but so does your collage. Nice work and an eye twister for certain.

In this collage the top photo is the main feature, not the bottom postworked version, which is merely an afterthought. Ergo, I did not take the photo with the explicit idea of a doing a Polar Coordinates concept later on. I feel it still makes an awesome display despite the comments.

Very unpatriotic! These should have been melted down in the Great War!! I'm teasing of course. Or is it some hidden anti-Gothic mastery that has taken me over?

Brilliant shot, Harry! I really like the fact that the fences are splendidly important and yet the property we can see behind them seems so much less so! Ironic Ironwork, you might call it.

A double row? They must have some really special grass or something. Or perhaps that's a gate which has been left open, making the fence strictly ornamental. Whatever the reason, this is a wonderful image, my dear! It fairly bristles with little "keep out" signs. And your polar-coordinates version is wonderful! :)
