Description
Captured 5/14/08, around 11:40 AM, in a trendy Cerritos mall, exactly 3.3 miles/5.31 kilometers from my abysmal abode.
I've found to my surprise that unless you really put your mind to it, you don't realize how many varieties of palm tree there are. This particular type, with its sculptured bark, is found mainly in shopping centers and malls around my area, perhaps because they are so slender and unobtrusive compared to the taller, bulkier kind I've posted previously.
Snapping the shot on the right was quite challenging. Beside looking straight up into the blazing noon day sun, I had to deal with a LCD monitor which was rendered black by the same bright sunlight, so it was a hit or miss proposition trying to correctly center the image. Imagine all the photos I had to take before success in this venture. And, to add to the discomfort, it was hot out there. Alas, the toils and travails of the wandering photographer. Fortunately, since there was hardly a soul around at that time, at least I was spared the stares of puzzled onlookers.
Thanks for perusing my efforts, and have a thoughtful Thursday.

Amazing what we learn. Excellent thanks!

Great POV in the second one and a pleasant display in the first. I am always amazed that these flimsy looking trees (just look at the cracked trunk!) do not just blow away in a breeze.

Interesting duo again with a palms Harry. The upright looking makes me feel I am a sister of Jack who has to what ever reason needed to climb a beanstalk..lol

The texture of this palm trunk is quite pleasing! Smooth undulations and wavy lines as far as the eye can see. An excellent capture, mi amigo querido!

Great POV and images Harry!! I am chuckling out loud.... I know well the looks of puzzled onlookers wondering what on earth that crazy lady was doing. Considering the difficult conditions, you did great... and I love the extreme texture on that extreme POV! :)

Wow, wonderful images; and I know what you mean about puzzled stares, those folks are obviously NOT photographers, or they'd know why you were on the lying on the ground taking this shot!!
