Description

It's probably not possible to visit Yosemite without taking a LOT of fotos of Half Dome**. From the valley floor, it makes its presence known and it is truly an astonishing sight. The black strip down the middle is lichen, from the snowmelt, as it drips down, it brings the lichen with it. People climb both the face and the backside all the time, though it's not for the faint of heart. It's every bit as breathtaking as it looks!! **click here

Breathtaking image Marilyn. I have read so much about Yosemite and would love to visit one day! Hope you're still enjoying yourself!! Bruce has asked me to send his regards. He has internet access problems and cannot seem to comment on pictures without huge frustrations and time delays!!!

So, does anyone talk about what happened to the other half of this dome? Interesting shot and a nice novel way to present it.

Super shot of this formidible formation, Marilyn! Half Dome seems to have changed in color since I last visited it many moons ago. I remember it as being variable shades of gray, such as you would find in rock. It looks so brown here, possibly due to the lichen.

Oh Marilyn, this is an great capture! I love the texture and the colors here, as well as the stunning POV...you present such a sense of scale here. It's quite impressive, and well...it's a place I want to see when I eventually get back to that side of the planet.

Wow Marilyn, I can remember standing in the very same position all those years ago when I visited CA, and Yosemite. When I was there, there were some rock climbers on the Dome, rather them than me. Yes you are so right the sceneary there is breathtaking and I felt so privileged to have visited such a wonderful place. This is an excellent detailed rustic photo, hugs Jane xx
